BIOGRAPHY

After graduating from the Royal College of Art Sculpture School in London in 1975 he became Fellow in Sculpture at Gloucester College of Art in Cheltenham 1975-76 followed by the Junior Fellowship in Sculpture at Cardiff College of Art Wales 1976-77. He has exhibited widely throughout the UK and abroad and is a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1980 he has taught at the Manchester Metropolitan University, Faculty of Art & Design, Department of Fine Arts where he is presently a Principal Lecturer in Fine Arts and the Head of School of Sculpture, Time-Based & Digital Media.

He first became involved with computer visualization and 3D Modeling and Animation during the late eighties and is currently establishing a Research Unit for Sculpture and Technology to include Rapid Prototyping facilities within the Department of Fine Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University. He was the sculpture advisor on the steering committee for the Higher Education Funding Councils CALM project (Creating Art with Layer Manufacture) in the UK that ran for a two-year period 1997-1998 and culminated in the creation of RP sculptures by twenty-two British Sculptors.

He founded FasT-uk (Fine Art Sculptors & Technology in the UK) in 1997 and is currently president of this organization. In 1998 he was production manager and technical coordinator for isea98terror in Manchester. He has also made presentations on cybersculpture and virtual reality at: CADE97; The 6th & 7th Biennial Symposium for Arts and Technology at Connecticut College (where he also exhibited 3D Sculpture Animations and RP work); ISC Chicago; isea98terror; "Contact Zones Discourses in Digitality" Cornell University Ithaca.
